Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Master of Science in Integrated Scientific Applications Program (MSISA) seeks temporary part-time instructors to teach courses in one or more of the following specializations:

Weather Intelligence and Risk Management

Teaching courses in Weather (or Environmental) Risk Management, Global Markets: Sensitivity and Susceptibility to Weather and Climate, Weather Derivatives and Valuation (or equivalent), Weather Intelligence (or equivalent), Statistical Applications, or topics courses aligned with the instructor’s expertise.


Teaching courses in data analytics, spatial data structures, GeoInformatics Applications, GeoInformaional Case Studies, Statistical Applications, or topics courses aligned with the instructors expertise

Environmental Earth Systems Management

Teaching courses in Environmental Earth Systems Management, Water Resources Management, Watershed Management, Environmental Sustainability, Stormwater Management, Environmental Chemistry, Statistical Applications, or topics courses aligned with the instructor’s expertise

Climate Science Applications

Teaching Global Markets: Sensitivity and Susceptibility to Weather and Climate, Energy and Climate Policy, Climate Science: Evidence, Consensus, and Uncertainty, or topics that align with the instructor’s expertise.

Courses can be designed with different delivery formats ranging from fully face-to-face to blended (80% online; 20% f2f), or fully online using our distance learning courses management tool.

The MSISA is a 36-credit hour, non-thesis, graduate program that combines specialization courses science and technology with a core of business, economics, statistics, finance, and management competency to meet current and emerging workforce needs. The MSISA Program is coordinated through the Department of Earth Sciences in the College of Science and Technology, and draws from faculty representing the disciplines of atmospheric and climate science, earth sciences, environmental sciences, geology, geography, economics, business administration/management, geospatial information systems, finance and accounting, and business operations. In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of an earned M.S. from an accredited institution and a minimum of three years experience (or Ph.D. in lieu of experience) in the discipline(s) related to specializations in which the applicant will teach. Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication. Evidence of commitment to equity and diversity. Successful interview and teaching demonstration. Three successful background checks: Act 34 (Criminal Record Check); Act 114 (FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting); and Act 151 (Child Abuse History Clearance).

Preferred Qualifications:

A Ph.D. from an accredited institution in any discipline related to specializations in weather intelligence and risk management, climate science applications, geoinformatics, or environmental systems management. Experience in online teaching and course management.
