Communication and Theatre

Working Title:

Temporary, Part-Time Faculty Entrepreneurship Minor (unsolicited)

Classification:

Instructor - 24900

Nature of position:

Temporary, part-time

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Entrepreneurship minor at times needs temporary, part-time instructors to supplement existing faculty. Currently, a new instructor is being sought to teach the Capstone in Entrepreneurship course in Spring 2016. The Entrepreneurship minor is based on the cutting edge approaches to entrepreneurship in premier programs across the country. The minor is based on the premise that the study of entrepreneurship is not confined solely to those topics studied in business administration, but rather it is a dynamic, cross-disciplinary field of study. The minor in Entrepreneurship explores innovation and creativity and fosters relationships and collaboration among faculty, students and organizations beyond the campus. In the Capstone in Entrepreneurship course, multidisciplinary teams of students work on start-up projects, from product or process conception towards commercialization. Teams work on a variety of issues including intellectual property, marketing, definition of a product requirements document, human factors, safety and environmental concerns, and legal matters. Case studies are also utilized.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree and relevant entrepreneurial experience. Relevant entrepreneurial experience may include starting your own venture or working in a leadership role in a start-up organization. Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations. Successful interview and teaching demonstration. Three successful background checks: Act 34 (Criminal Record Check); Act 114 (FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting); and Act 151 (Child Abuse History Clearance).
