The Department of Philosophy occasionally needs temporary, part-time instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals or leaves. In the past, typical assignments for temporary, part-time instructors have included introductory philosophy and logic courses. Some teaching of advanced courses commensurate with qualifications is possible.
The department offers a B.A. in Philosophy and offers courses in the history of philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy of art and aesthetics, philosophy in film, political and social philosophy and a variety of other advanced topics in philosophy.
Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Materials will be reviewed when an instructor is needed.
In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.Required Qualifications:
Master’s in Philosophy or related field. Prior college-level philosophy teaching experience. Evidence of ability to successfully teach students of diverse populations. Successful interview, teaching demonstration and three successful background checks: Criminal Background Check (Act 34; Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151); and FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting (Act 114).Quicklink for Posting/Requisition:
