Job Summary:

Provides circulation support services within the campus library.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs library work of a moderately complex nature
• Works under general supervision based upon knowledge of library policies and procedures
• Provides circulation services including organization of library materials
• Maintains circulation records and prepares reports as necessary
• Organizes reserve items
• Answers moderately complex questions, refers questions to a librarian, when appropriate
• Provides excellent customer service as a primary contact for patrons of the library
• Locates materials including databases and electronic resources for students and faculty
• Provides check in and checkout services as well as properly shelving library materials
• Effectively uses an automated circulation system
• Develops an extensive working knowledge of library services, policies and practices
• Communicates library services, policies and practices to students, faculty and staff
• Performs advanced library operational skills
• Works with little supervision and applies judgment in evaluating alternatives
• Manages technical matters and human relations issues
• Maintains operational reports and makes reports as requested
• Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures:

• Associate’s degree or 60 college hours and two (2) years of customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and related experience

• Library experience

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Experience with computerized systems
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to enthusiastically communicate with and relate to the community college student

Special Instructions Summary:

This is a part-time position, maximum 19.5 hrs. per week.<br><br>Work hours are mostly weekday afternoon hours. Some Saturday hours may be required.
