Policy Analyst, Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality (GCPI) Georgetown University Law Center

Policy Analyst, Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality (GCPI) - Georgetown University Law Center

The Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality (GCPI) works with policy leaders, researchers, practitioners, advocates, and other experts to develop policies and practices to alleviate poverty and inequality and advance racial and gender equity in the United States.

Its Economic Security & Opportunity Initiative (ESOI) works with policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and advocates to develop effective policies and practices to alleviate poverty and inequality in the United States.

The Policy Analyst, reporting to a Senior Policy Analyst and taking guidance from other Senior Policy Analysts, and interacting with students and other faculty and staff, has duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with Fellows, other Policy Analysts, and center leadership to develop research proposals
  • Support policy and research tasks such as literature reviews, research interviews, identifying and analyzing data
  • Contribute to drafting and revising written publications
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project-specific strategies and priorities
  • Coordinate project-specific tasks, plans, and timelines
  • Attend internal and external meetings and events, take careful, detailed notes, and provide summaries to staff
  • Develop and help deliver presentations and briefs for policy-making audiences on topics related to economic security and opportunity issues
  • Monitor trends and developments in economic security and opportunity issues
  • Support the center's development and communications work
  • Support the center's work in coalitions alongside academics, advocates, and policy experts


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research and policy analysis
  • Ability to collect, synthesize, analyze, and interpret data and policies, including facility with Excel and statistical software
  • Ability to carry on assigned tasks under supervision
  • Proficiency with office productivity tools like such as Google Docs, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and clearly express complex ideas tailored for various audiences
  • Excellent note taking, organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to GCPI's mission
  • Background in issues related to poverty, economic justice, social inclusion, racial equity, gender equity, and/or disability rights (including lived experience)
  • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to organize and manage competing priorities, tasks and deadlines
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for learning
