Educational and Experience Requirement:Associates degree with coursework in a field that teaches data entry, data management, data presentation and data analysis. Three years of experience in an educational, research, government environment, or a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Works with the Associate Vice President of Research & Sponsored Programs to develop data collection, management, and communication program for the department.
Primary Responsibilities:Develops strategies and methodologies to collect and maintain databases with critical information used for strategic decision making in the Office of Research and Special Programs. Data includes but is not limited to details of grant submissions and grant awards, grant expenditures, faculty scholarly accomplishments, student engagement in scholarship, and office expenditures and activities. Manages and prepares data for analyses and reporting. Assists in data analyses, technical report preparation for administrative offices, and develops presentations of technical data. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:High skill level in working with Excel and other data management software packages. Knowledge of accessing data in the Banner and Cognos systems preferred. Knowledge of statistical approaches to data analyses and experience preparing visual representation of technical data. Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are critical. Capacity to learn new technologies and approaches that make data management more effective and efficient for the office. Expected to execute other tasks as assigned such as assist with daily office operations and assist with operations of axillary laboratories and facilities (e.g., Vivarium). Should be able to work remotely at times.
