The Opportunity

The university is seeking an experienced Information Technology Manager to help create and maintain an enterprise development environment based on the Microsoft Development Platform. The IT Manager is the Team Leader of the Department of Technology Solutions (DTS) Software Solutions Development (SSD) Team in the UT System. The successful candidate will manage a team of professional IT solution brokers who collaborate with University-Wide departments and units to identify and implement software solutions that help solve the issues they face.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Coordinates and manages multiple concurrent technology projects throughout their project life-cycle. Predicts risk factors and eliminates obstacles for the successful completion of projects.Works with customers, business analysts, and programmers to design and develop timelines for the projects and appropriately delegates responsibilities to team members.Provides metrics, data analytics and other progress reports to leadership on a frequent basis.Manages changes to project scope, project schedule, and project costs.Ensures that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.Creates and maintains comprehensive application documentation.Tracks project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.Provides oversight, training, resources, support, and clear communication to team members.Provides direct supervision for a small team.Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree.  The successful candidate must also possess strong oral and written communication skills.

Preference will be given to individuals with:

    5 years of application development experiencePrior experience overseeing or implementing complex information technology projects.Demonstrated leadership ability.Demonstrated skill in applying project management principles, methods, and practices. Demonstrated skill in researching and analyzing complex problems and developing innovative solutions.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences.Experience in the development of management reports.
