Research Assistant, Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center - Georgetown University Medical Center

Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC), part of Georgetown University Medical Center, seeks to prevent, treat and cure cancers by linking scientific discovery, expert and compassionate patient care, quality education and partnership with the community - guided by the principle of “cura personalis - “care for the whole person.”

The Research Assistant, a member of a Lung Screening, Tobacco, and Health team, supports an American Lung Association-funded randomized intervention trial of 300 participants to educate quitline callers about lung cancer screening. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant has duties that include but are not limited to:

Engagement
  • Manage and clean data on two longitudinal research studies
  • Conduct telephone interviews with research participants
  • Mail materials and payments to research participants


Supervision and Support
  • Supervise 2 staff members and 1 to 2 undergraduate research assistants who conduct follow-up interviews
  • Support upcoming grant submissions in Fall 2021


Collaboration
  • Conduct data management and data analysis for a project engaging outside investigators
  • Conduct emails and phone calls and in-person meetings with collaborators
  • Conduct data analysis for abstracts and manuscripts with the team


Administration
  • Perform independent management of IRB protocols, submission of amendments and annual reports
  • Independently conduct other administrative tasks concerning interactions with funding agencies and managing data uploads from the American Lung Association


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in psychology, public health, or another social science
  • Experience working on behavioral tobacco-related research or clinical projects
  • Experience in data management and data analysis
