Primary Function:

The Coordinator of International Service provides leadership in developing, designing, and implementing short-term international and domestic opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. By following best practices for high-impact, immersive, field-based experiences, these opportunities foster one or more of the following: asset-based community development, service-learning immersion, hands-on engagement through internships or research, academic inquiry, and student identity development including religious and ethical identity. The coordinator works collaboratively with the Office of Civic Engagement, Office of Global Citizenship, All Saints’ Chapel, faculty, staff, and domestic and international community development projects of the Episcopal Church and other international and domestic partner organizations.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead advancement initiatives for the Center for Global Citizenship and Social Justice to accomplish programmatic fundraising goals
  • Manage the development, organization and implementation of immersive, high impact service-learning alternative spring break trips, both domestically and internationally through which students can integrate their own personal, spiritual and ethical commitments into lives of service.
  • Maintain existing community partnerships (domestically and internationally) and seek opportunities to develop new ones
  • Advise faculty on developing and organizing short-term faculty led programs
  • Lead training initiatives for faculty and staff leaders of international and domestic short-term programs
  • Provide administrative and budgetary leadership for short-term programs, including alternative spring break trips and faculty led programs
  • Design pre-departure sessions and orientation materials for students participating in short-term programs. Sessions and materials should include cultural, religious, and social overviews of the program location, as well as assist students as they explore their own identities and sense of purpose.
  • Spearhead assessment of all short-term programs
  • Develop programmatic connections between short-term programs and academic courses, as well as between short-term programs and semester-long programs
  • Develop international internship opportunities for students
  • Collaborate with All Saints’ Chapel and Dialogue across Difference to create structured opportunities for program participants to explore their own religious and ethical commitments.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required with a preference for a Master’s degree in relevant higher education fields, such as international development, community development, student affairs, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:

3+ years of experience working with faculty and students in higher education international development programs, study abroad/away programs, or programs that have an essential relation to community development and service-learning.

Working Environment:

The position works closely with both the Office of Civic Engagement and the Office of Global Citizenship, in collaboration with All Saints Chapel. The position is expected to work both within the office and in the field.
