General Description:The Senior Buyer is responsible for the procurement of a wide variety of commodities, materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the College consistent with accepted standards and in compliance with institutional policy, procedures, and state law.

Minimum Education/Experience:Associate Degree and a minimum of 3 years purchasing experience;
OR
Successful completion of some college coursework and a minimum of 5 years purchasing experience.
Positive human relation and customer service skills.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral including telephone skills) and public speaking.
General knowledge of business relations, basic accounting principles and office procedures and practices.
Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
Ability to develop, maintain and provide training programs.
Proficient application of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) or similar software programs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department employees, vendors and others.
Ability to organize and present facts and opinions clearly and concisely; to conduct several projects simultaneously.
Demonstrate a commitment and willingness to provide courteous, consistent, efficient procurement services through the performance of the prescribed job duties.
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Purchasing office and occasionally move about the OCCC campus to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office equipment/machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
This position requires the person to occasionally position self to grasp, move, lift, and/or access materials.
This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 10 pounds to lift and/or push materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting.
CPO (Certified Procurement Officer) Certification
Experience in Higher Education or state government procurement.
Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and evenings and weekends as required for special events, emergencies, and other needs.
