The Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy, Medical College of Georgia, at Augusta University is undergoing an expansion of its research program and is seeking tenure-track faculty at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. We are specifically seeking candidates with expertise in the visual system. Ideally, the successful candidate will investigate eye-related diseases, especially those associated with aging, and will complement existing strengths in vision research within the institution. The successful candidate will become a member of the James and Jean Culver Vision Discovery Institute consisting of basic scientists and clinicians investigating a wide range of devastating blinding disorders. Augusta University is the home of the only research-oriented, state supported medical school in Georgia and offers an outstanding interdisciplinary environment. The research infrastructure includes an NEI Center Core Grant for Vision Research (P30) plus state-of-the-art core facilities for confocal and two-photon imaging, biotelemetry, proteomics, flow cytometry, electron microscopy/histology, derivation and manipulation of murine embryonic stem cells. Candidates at the Assistant/Associate Professor level must demonstrate a strong potential for research including obtaining extramural funding. The successful candidate will receive a nationally competitive start-up package, be expected to establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program, and participate in teaching. Applicants should submit curriculum vitae, identifying at least three individuals as references, a statement of research objectives, and a description of teaching interests/experience.

Responsibilities The duties include, but are not limited to: Teaching
Participate in Medical/Graduate teaching in the Medical College of Georgia/The Graduate School. Research
Submit grants; obtain extramural funding; establish and maintain extramural funding preferably in Vision; publications; protocols (animal, biological, chemical, etc.)
Service
Serve on Departmental, Institutional, and National committees; participate in study sections (NIH, DOD, AHA, etc.).Required Qualifications Ph.D or M.D. from an accredited college or university
