Responsibilities

The Associate Administrative Assistant reports to the Chairperson of the department in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and is responsible for providing administrative support.  He/she will maintain departmental budget files and expenditures; record, transcribe, check and proofread complex and technical dictation; prepares correspondence, memorandums, meeting agenda and minutes, manuscripts, contracts, proposals, technical and administrative reports; and composes routine letters and articles. The Associate Administrative Assistant will serve as receptionist, maintains schedule of classes, and prepares interoffice forms, requisitions, vouchers, and payroll activity reports.  He/she will perform any other duties within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

Associate degree with at least two years of secretarial/clerical experience is preferable. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of office practices and procedures, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have knowledge of other automated systems.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the general public in disseminating and obtaining information; completing assigned tasks; developing and managing a record-keeping system; and communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
