Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $75,000 - $78,000 per year. Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This full-time, exempt position is in the CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP).

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The Director of Development for Lyles College of Engineering reports to the Associate Vice President for University Development, in close cooperation with the Dean of the Lyles College of Engineering and is a member of the University Advancement team. The incumbent is responsible for managing and facilitating the Lyles College of Engineering efforts in fundraising. The Director of Development is responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. The Director, in partnership with the Dean, will plan and implement development and campaign strategies on behalf of the Lyles College of Engineering, including providing staff support to one or more volunteer groups.

  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds;
  • Flexibility to travel as needed to develop and maintain relationships;
  • Competency and experience with the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and the internet;

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four years of increasingly responsible and successful fundraising experience or professional experience with transferable skills such as sales, marketing or public relations.
  • Demonstrated track record in working with individuals and groups, ability to work as a member of a team, recognition of the importance of education to individuals and society.
  • Exposure to management, including budgetary responsibilities.
  • Experience with a nonprofit organization.
  • Experience with capital/comprehensive campaigns and/or specific experience in major gift solicitation, corporate foundation relations or constituent relations.

The Lyles College of Engineering is the only publicly supported engineering college in the San Joaquin Valley offering a wide-range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in engineering and construction management. Through our Pathways: Student Services Program, students can access professional development activities, tutorial services, student clubs and professional societies, and campus referrals for assistance and more. Civil, Geomatics, Electrical, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering are nationally accredited through the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) at the same standards applied to all other engineering schools and colleges nationwide. Construction Management is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).
