The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invite applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Biological Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Chemistry, (Chemical Biology, Biological Chemistry, or Biochemistry) by the time of appointment, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in diverse areas of chemistry related to biological chemistry. Ideally, we seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement the existing strengths of our department (see: https://www.chemistry.utoronto.ca). We encourage applicants to review our research and teaching activities prior to applying. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding competitively funded research program.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement outlining research plans, summaries of presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be evaluated via the teaching dossier, as well as strong letters of reference. The dossier should include a teaching statement describing teaching philosophy and teaching experience and interests. The dossier can include sample course materials, and teaching evaluations or evidence of excellent performance in relevant teaching-related activities. Teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course/laboratory instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, and conference presentations.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
