Budget Title: Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)
Salary: $50,000 (Full-Time, temporary)
The Harpur College, Department of Physics at Binghamton University is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Researcher position in experimental Condensed Matter Physics. The successful candidate will conduct experiments aimed to synthesize and study vibrational properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials. The research will be carried out under the supervisor of Professor Ana Laura Elias. The project will involve developing experimental approaches to grow novel materials and integrate them into van der Waais solids, to engineer their vibrational and excitonic responses. Additionally, the appointment requires writing manuscripts and assisting with the supervision of graduate students. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for two years from the date of hire.
Expected start date is August 2021 or later (negotiable).
- Ph.D. in Physics or a related field
- Experience in the isolation and/or synthetic synthesis of graphene and semiconducting 2D materials (WS2, MoSe2, etc) and their Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy signatures
