Job Details

The Applications & Systems Developer’s primary responsibility is for the development, customization, and integration of enterprise software applications, virtual appliances, network communication systems, and security infrastructure in an environment serving the multifaceted needs of a higher education institution.  
 
Additional roles include interfacing with Technical Support and the ticket management system to troubleshoot problems.  The position will provide oversight and technical support of select enterprise applications and end-user processes. The position will also work with systems administrators to develop, modify, or supplement network applications. The Developer will use skills in Java, Visual Basic, PowerShell, Power Automate, and third-party tools to secure, enhance, and integrate network infrastructure systems and applications. Helps to ensure the long-term stability and security of the College network and applications.

Examples of Duties:

  1. Works with senior staff to review and implement all aspects of applications and systems integrations.
  2. Provides technical leadership to the Enterprise Information Systems team.
  3. Administration, maintenance, and development of mission-critical applications and processes, including but not limited to:
    • Java based applications and solutions
    • Microsoft Teams
    • Microsoft Azure, Workflows, Power BI
    • WS02, SAML, CAS security processes
    • Microsoft RADIUS servers
    • Capture Portals and Firewalls
    • Print servers/ network and IOT devices
    • Integration of diverse systems
    • Tomcat and IIS servers
  4. Assists Systems and Applications Administrators with deployments and upgrades.
  5. Develops processes and workflows using Power Automate, Workflows, and Power shell scripts for systems administration.
  6. Documents and tracks work within systems and reviews and updates documentation created by others.
  7. Researches methods and offers suggestions for improved systems operations, efficiency, and security.
  8. Assists in the development of policies and procedures that affect the operation, use, and security of the College’s networks.
  9. Participates and contributes in disaster recovery planning and implementation. 
  10. Resolves problems and answers routine questions without direct supervision. 
  11. Manages projects and priorities of service, as defined by management.
  12. Keeps management informed of opportunities, problems, and issues.
  13. Performs other duties, as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required in CIS, MIS or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience with Java, .NET, PowerShell and/or other related programming languages
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Servers
  • Knowledge of Linux Red Hat 7.x servers
  • Experience with internet protocols & services such as, IIS, Tomcat, DNS, VPN’s, FTP, SFTP, and TCP/IP networks
  • Experience developing and supporting Single Sign On and MFA
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to use personal vehicle to travel to multiple campus locations
  • Ability to handle and move computer equipment up to 50lbs
  • Flexible schedule that will allow for after-hours and weekend/holiday support and being on call during non-scheduled work hours
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing and supporting Microsoft Cloud services
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Workflows, Power Automate
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux.
  • Experience with SCCM
  • Experience with Security practices related to LAN\WAN\WiFi networks.
  • Knowledge of SSO managed environments.
  • JAVA expertise
