Description
The Senior Research Associate within the College of Public Health’s (CPH) Department of Health Services Administration and Policy will provide full-time support to carry out externally-funded grant studies and other research projects/activities of Elizabeth Van Nostrand, JD, the Principal Investigator (PI). This position will support a culture of high performance in a complex environment by performing multiple administrative functions, staff and student supervision, data collection and analyses, and organizational collaborations of a legal epidemiologic study.

Essential Functions:

The Senior Research Associate will participate in research efforts to determine which services, treatments, and interventions given to individuals arrested for drug misuse impact morbidity and mortality. This individual will work closely with the PI to: (1) facilitate communication and collaboration among a site supervisor, four Co-Investigators, and multiple executive branch agencies in Indiana; (2) supervise one PhD graduate student researcher, four master’s of public health and/or law students,  one master’s of science student, a marketing team, and a project coordinator; (3) interface with personnel and judges in 25 Indiana problem solving courts; (4) collaborate with assistant wardens in 17 Indiana correctional facilities; (5) identify datasets for integration in a large scale agent based model; (6) oversee the coding of court and correctional protocols, interview transcripts, and court records; (7) work with the PI and grants administrators to manage the budget; (8) train all new hires; (9) engage with a stakeholder advisory committee comprised of national experts in law, the judiciary, and modeling; and, (9) participate in manuscript preparation and progress reports.

Required Education & Experience:
Master’s Degree in Public Health or Juris Doctorate Degree; 5 years of experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

This is a grant funded position.

Please note this position will temporarily work remotely, the duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
