Phillips Academy Andover seeks an experienced, dynamic, and committed individual to fill the administrative position of Associate Director and Manager of Programs for the Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT). Founded in 1990, the IRT addresses the lack of diversity in the nation’s teaching faculties by recruiting outstanding students of color and other scholars committed to diversity, counseling them through the graduate school application process, and advocating for sufficient funding for advanced study.
The Associate Director and Manager of Programs (ADMP) plays a leading role, in collaborative partnership with the Executive Director, in the creation, implementation, and management of strategic initiatives designed to enhance the IRT strategic plan in the areas of program development and assessment, summer programming and instructional design, recruitment and enrollment strategies, and consortium network and partnership development. The ADMP also assists in the hiring, training, evaluation, and oversight of over 15 IRT continuing staff, external professional student advisors as well as of IRT Summer Workshop teaching faculty. In addition, the ADMP oversees and coordinates the IRT Summer Workshop and Associate programs, including ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic programming, recruitment and selection of fellows, development of in-person and virtual advising models, execution of efficient business processes, marketing and advertising, and the development of associated print and web materials. The ideal candidate will have experience with research and/or evaluation.
Other key responsibilities include supporting evaluation, campus recruitment and national conference travel and presentations, extensive student advising on graduate school applications as well as program degree and field selection, convene and lead staff meetings, retreats and trainings.
Preference will be given to candidates with excellent communication (written and oral) skills, five years of related admissions/advising/education administration experience, mastery of software and technology used in the daily processes and functioning of the office (including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Canvas, Google), and a record of successfully working with underrepresented students. A critical knowledge of graduate degree research and practical programs in the fields supported by the IRT is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong and successful track record of inclusive leadership and strategic management. The successful candidate will be assessed on their ability to competently support a diverse staff and manage a broad portfolio of programs and strategic initiatives. Master’s degree required.
