Teaching and learning are the central functions of Bergen Community College, and as such, its faculty plays a central role in supporting and fulfilling the College mission. The faculty has the primary responsibility for developing and carrying out effective instruction, counseling and library services. Since its founding in 1965, the College has been proud of its mix of tradition and innovation in the process of challenging students to raise questions, examine evidence, validate opinions, make decisions and communicate ideas effectively.

Successful candidates must be able to teach both day and evening classes, be committed to assessing student success and learning outcomes, assessing and developing new programs/curricula, demonstrating competence in instructional technology, especially on-line instruction and willing to accept assignments at any of our three locations (Paramus, Hackensack and Lyndhurst). All positions require excellent organizational and communication skills as well as demonstrated scholarship and professional involvement. Candidates invited for an interview will be required to do a teaching demonstration and present a teaching portfolio.

We have a full time tenure track position available in in our ACEN accredited ADN Nursing program. The position includes online, classroom/didactic, lab, simulation and clinical teaching, student advising and mentoring, and participation in scholarly activity including involvement in departmental, college and community service both in-person and online. The position begins in September 2021 on our Paramus campus.

Med/Surg Nursing (Job Code: FTTT-Med Surg)
Teaching responsibilities will include classroom/didactic instruction, online instruction (synchronous/asynchronous), participation in clinical laboratory simulations, and teaching clinical and/or clinical conference including demonstration and evaluation of students providing direct patient care in a variety of acute, subacute and long-term care treatment settings. Instruction will take place both in-person and online.

Qualifications:

Required: Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program and a current NJ RN license required; Must have a minimum of three (3) years of current clinical experience as a registered nurse. Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in an academic setting (this qualification may be waived for an individual with appropriate alternate experience); Must demonstrate experience utilizing technology for teaching in online course delivery, on-line course management systems, online resources management systems (ATI) and simulation to enhance student learning objectives and program assessment outcomes. Must have the ability to teach in-person and online. Day and evening availability is required.
