Manages library circulation procedures and oversees check in and out process of materials at Sturgis Library. Searches the library's circulation system and databases to find materials for patrons. Supervises materials recovery and coordinates circulation services. Responsibilities
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
- Manages confidential user records and stays current on changes in FERPA
- Works with Director of Access Services in developing an overall strategy for unit
- Schedules and supervises day, evening, and weekend staff as assigned
- Participates in periodic evaluation of circulation staff
- Reviews and resolves problems and handles complaints
- Identifies lost or stolen material and reports to Director of Collection Development
- Supervises reserve function and handling of shelf-ready material
- Oversees procedural processing of library fines and fee transactions and ensures safeguarding of petty cash
- Recommends major changes in circulation procedures to the Director of Access Services
- Prepares overdue, circulation, and attendance reports to summarize and forecast usage activity
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related fieldRequired Experience
Three (3) years of related work experience and three (3) years supervisory experience Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ABILITIES
Able to access software features, such as fines, inventory and patron lists Able to deal with multiple projects at one time meeting assigned deadlinesKNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of existing state and federal privacy laws that pertain to circulation records Working knowledge of FERPA requirements and the Library of Congress classification system Knowledge of academic library print and electronic holdingsSKILLS
