Stanford's Graduate School of Business has built a global reputation based on its immersive and innovative management programs. We provide students a transformative leadership experience, pushing the boundaries of knowledge with faculty research, and offering a portfolio of entrepreneurial and non-degree programs that deliver global impact like no other. We are committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in service of our mission: To create ideas that deepen and advance our understanding of management and, with these ideas, develop innovative, principled, and insightful leaders who change the world. We invite you to be part of this mission.

Are you passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging? Have you supported and created programs that advance inclusion and belonging, especially for women? Are you interested in working with business school alumni to advance equality of women?

Women's Initiatives and Groups within the GSB Department of Alumni Relations are guided by five visions. We seek to:
  • Equip our alumnae with the practical insights, tools, and confidence to create, influence, and lead diverse and inclusive organizations.
  • Encourage our alumnae to engage with the school in support of its mission.
  • Support our alumnae by co-creating or developing programs that facilitate learning, career advancement, professional networking, and social engagement with other alumni and students.
  • Empower personal growth by cultivating a supportive and engaged alumnae community.
  • Understand and share research that advocates for equality in the workplace with a particular focus on racial, ethnic, gender, gender-identity, and sexual orientation.

The Associate Director of Women's Initiatives will work collaboratively with alumni volunteers, staff, faculty, and students to execute a robust set of programs. You will not only support the execution of alumni-led initiatives but also contribute to the strategic direction of existing programs and develop new ones. You will also promote the school's gender research, strengthen and expand the alumni community, and help inform school priorities around women, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Your primary responsibilities include:
  • Participate in strategic and long-term planning for the Diverse Alumni Communities team
  • Ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices are implemented across all programs and activities
  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers and volunteer-led projects
  • Develop strong alumni volunteer pipelines and ensure governance structures are created, maintained, and routinely evaluated
  • Understand and evaluate existing alumni programs and services to increase participant satisfaction
  • Oversee online groups focused on women
  • Negotiate high-level contracts with vendors and oversee the quality of delivered products and services in adherence with Stanford University policies
  • Work with other departments within External Relations and across campus to identify and implement new markets and develop new program strategies
  • Represent the organization to internal and external groups regarding business and program activities
  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to represent the GSB professionally both internally and externally
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as volunteer development and oversight
  • Strong interpersonal, team, and leadership skills; tact and flexibility in working with diverse populations
  • Ability to juggle incoming information, interruptions, and inquiries with a high level of professionalism and tolerance for ambiguity
  • Proven decision-making skills including the ability to understand and solve complex questions using both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Computer proficiency and the desire to learn new systems
