Visiting Assistant Professor, Japanese Studies

Position Summary:
This is a one-year, part-time academic teaching position.


Essential Functions:


General Responsibilities:
The faculty member is expected to teach 4 to 8 hours per week (3 classes per year), hold weekly office hours, participate in placement testing for students (twice yearly), engage in student advising and curricular development and scheduling.


Education:
•MA or Ph.D. in teaching foreign language or related field, with expertise in content teaching •PhD preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Native-level fluency in Japanese
•Proven record of teaching excellence as demonstrated in supervisor and peer observations, student evaluations, original materials, etc.
•Ability to collaborate effectively as a team member
•Ability to work with graduate students from varied linguistic, educational, and experiential backgrounds


Experience:
•Experience teaching all levels of Japanese •Experience teaching graduate students •Experience with content-based language instruction, particularly in areas of policy and business
