Job Details

General Purpose

This position will provide athletic training services to the student-athletes at Presentation College.  The Athletic Trainer – Internship is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the college’s sports medicine program.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training services for the college’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary
  • Primary sport coverage assistant with Football; other sport assignment TBD 
  • Assist in administering the college’s Athletic Training Services 
  • Evaluate, treat and assist in the rehabilitation of injuries to student-athletes
  • Review and document injuries
  • Supervise athletic training students during clinical assignments 
  • Make referrals for appropriate medical care
  • Assist with the electronic injury tracking software system used by the college
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Provide athletic training coverage to assigned sports (subject to change as needed) 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training Services 

 

Education and Training

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field. Master's degree with prior experience in athletic training and/or strength & conditioning
  • Current certification from NATA Board of Certification
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified
  • Must be eligible/maintain South Dakota athletic training licensure

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the needs of diverse students, faculty, staff, and university community
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional technology
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues for program growth and enhancement
  • Prior experience in athletic training at the collegiate level
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certification
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer in the State of South Dakota  

Working Conditions

  • Normal temperature working environment. 
  • Moderate to little amount of noise in the work environment. 
  • Friendly, teamwork type of work environment.   
  • Normal amount of overtime and extended work hours required.
