Position Information: DescriptionThe University of North Dakota is looking to hire a part-time Esports Coach. This position will serve two major purposes:

1) To expand the equity of the program by helping to develop and carry out recruitment activities related to North Dakota Varsity eSports at UND; and

2) To increase support, engagement, retention, and competitive success of the program through leadership of varsity eSports members within competition, practice, organization, and administration directly related to competitive rosters.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Outreach
    • Lead recruitment efforts for UND’s varsity eSports rosters through multiple approved methods
    • Maintain steady outreach to potential candidates for competitive eSports rosters
    • Retain recruitment data and analytics within designated tracking systems
    • Assist in the creation and execution of recruitment pipelines, events, marketing, and contacts
  • Varsity Roster Development, Coaching, and Management
    • Assist in management of varsity membership, schedules, practices, and competitions
    • Development of new varsity rosters and student opportunities within the program
    • Lead overall coaching activities for the program, and lead focused coaching in at least one varsity title ( League of Legends, Rocket League, Valorant, R6 Siege, SSBU )
    • Retain data and analytics related to varsity students, competitive records, and other metrics deemed necessary
    • Assist in Social Media postings related to specific varsity rosters
  • Administrative Support
    • Complete essential office management work, including fielding phone calls, responding efficiently to communications and requests for information, and organizing data
    • Attend and lead meetings as scheduled
    • Assist the eSports coordinator with various tasks as needed
    • Serve as a leader, and by extension, a public representative of the competitive eSports rosters at UND
Required Competencies
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken language.
  • Ability to form effective relationships with others via telephone or face-to-face visits.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, students, and staff from range of disciplines.
  • Ability to work as member of a team.
  • Strong technical understanding, of the gaming ecosystem including desktop, console, mobile, and virtual reality systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Work experience in a recruitment or admissions based role.
  • Six (6) months of supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in one or more of the following titles: League of Legends, SSBU, Rocket League, Valorant, R6 Siege.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven success in an outside recruitment based role, preferably within the education industry.
  • Proficiency in multiple esport titles.
  • Experience working in a high school or collegiate environment.
  • Experience assisting with the development and implementation of outreach activities.
  • Experience as an officer in a club sports or similar environment.
  • Six (6) month of experience coaching or in team management, especially within educational institutions.
Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$20,000 + commensurate with experience, Annual, Non-Exempt, Part-Time, Benefited

This position will be located on UND campus. 

Work Schedule/Start Date

Monday – Friday 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., but will work with Director as needs arise
