PHILOSOPHY

Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy seeks qualified candidates for non-tenure-track appointment as Lecturer, beginning Fall 2021. Initial appointments are renewable, contingent on performance and review. The Department of Philosophy has 35 full-time faculty serving more than 170 majors and is located on the university’s Lakeshore Campus. This position routinely involves teaching 4 sections of courses each semester as well as student advising/mentoring, and department service as needed. The courses that the candidate must be prepared to teach include, but are not limited to, the following: PHIL 181: Ethics; PHIL 82: Ethics and Society; PHIL 130: Philosophy and Persons. Teaching experience in Loyola’s Core Curriculum with very strong teaching evaluations is highly desirable.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in Philosophy, an exceptional enthusiasm for pedagogy, a commitment to undergraduate teaching, and a dedication to student development. We seek candidates with an excellent record of teaching at the college level. The candidate also should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
