Position Summary:

The public relations coordinator in the Office of Research Communications will help to communicate a positive organizational image to internal and external audiences. This position will have primary responsibility for managing the office’s social media portfolio, including strategy and planning, follower acquisition, content development, and posting, analytics reporting, and the launch of any new channels. The position will also support the office’s other activities, particularly the development of research-related content for online and print vehicles and tracking of external media placements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

• Experience in managing branded social media channels.
• Demonstrated excellence in writing, editing, interviewing and proofreading.
• Knowledge & proficiency in editorial style (especially AP).
• Basic digital photography skills, including photo editing in Photoshop or Lightroom.
• Strong interpersonal & time management skills.
• Ability to translate complex, often scientific content for broader audiences.
• Experience working with a web content management system.

Social media management:
o Develop, post and monitor content for Twitter, Facebook and new channels.
o Design & execute follower-acquisition campaigns and improve engagement across social media channels.
