The University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business is seeking a well-qualified Director of Finance to lead the Financial Information Office in the college. One of 11 colleges located on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus, the Haslam College of Business (HCB) is a recognized leader in research and education for the global economy. The Haslam College of Business is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.The Director of Finance supports the Assistant Dean with financial operations of the Haslam College of Business, which manages a consolidated budget of more than $70 million. The position will implement the University’s new budget model, develop accurate budget and financial data collection, oversee all business operations, and ensure compliance with financial policies, practices and procedures. The position will have oversight of the staff of the Financial Information Office under the direction of the Assistant Dean. The Director advises the Assistant Dean on the financial impact of strategic development and growth initiatives in the college, as well as implications related to UT fiscal policy. This position will oversee day-to-day cash flow transactions, expense reimbursements, vendor payments, procurement, contracts, grants, human resource transactions, etc. using procedures that are transparent and compliant with policies of HCB and UTK. He/she will work closely with UTK’s Executive Director of Finance and other campus officials on matters regarding the college budget.
QualificationsQualifications:Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and progressively responsible experience in accounting/finance office. Experience in financial report compilation, analysis and presentation to board level audiences. Experience as supervisor.
Master's degree plus two to four years of experience in accounting/finance office. Experience in financial report compilation, analysis and presentation to board level audiences. Experience as a supervisor.He/she must be skilled in using financial management software commonly used in higher education and possess a willingness to help team members problem-solve by active utilization of software and databases at the transactional level, as necessary.Other skills essential for success as the Director of Finance include: excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively interact and communicate with faculty, staff and campus officials at all levels; and understanding of academic program administration. The ability to reconcile consolidated financial reports, develop managerial accounting reports, and exceptional proficiency with Excel are vital. Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree or CPA preferred. Experience with IRIS and Banner Systems; a working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and non-profit reporting; higher education experience; and knowledge of University of Tennessee, Knoxville systems and processes are also preferred.
