Job Description:


This position is effective starting Monday, August 23, 2021, for the fall interscholastic athletic season. The Middle School Soccer Head Coach at York Country Day School (YCDS) is responsible for leading the training and competition of our student-athletes participating in our MS Soccer program. The interscholastic season for Middle School Soccer is the fall season. There is an additional intramural season for MS soccer in the spring, which would be paid an additional stipend to coach.


This position reports to the YCDS Director of Athletics. This coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of YCDS and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). ?


The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for the Middle School Soccer Head Coach at YCDS.


  • Aid in the discipline of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the school and community.
  • Plan and implement detailed practice sessions focused on developing technical skills and team cohesion.
  • Instruct athletes individually and in groups while demonstrating technical skills at practice.
  • Create and implement game strategy and lineups, considering playing time to be fair at the Middle School level.
  • Develop athletes to build the YCDS soccer program and prepare them for the Varsity level of competition in the Upper School.
  • Ensure adherence to all PIAA and YCDS rules and regulations/policies.
  • Communicate with the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer about injuries, eligibility, and other items.
  • Be a mentor and role model to young student-athletes.
  • Build positive relationships with members of the YCDS community, including students, faculty, administration, parents, and alumni.
  • Act with integrity, fairness, trust, and respect in all decisions that represent the school and team.
  • Build a program with a goal to give our student-athletes a memorable experience.


Requirements:


Experience coaching soccer or high-level playing experience preferred (club, high school, college, or professional).
