Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelors degree in Media or related field. Two years of direct work-related experience with various audio technologies is required, including broadcast productions or live events. Strong technical troubleshooting and testing skills are required. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters in Audio Arts or related field preferred. Knowledge and understanding of podcasting and live streaming technologies are desired. Background in Spanish-Language media is preferred.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

This full-time staff member, working primarily in the Department Mass Communication, serves as a member of the College of Arts and Media production team. The purpose of the position is to provide support for courses, live productions, and broadcast/streaming systems. Must be student-focused and committed to collaborative production assignments and processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of the College of Arts and Media production team. Assist in the coordination of the CAM production calendar and meetings.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead for SHSU’s radio stations, streaming systems, and lead for audio services during live events.
  • Coordinate course-related audio recording activities, and work with external vendors and service providers as needed.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks on all audio equipment and relevant systems (hardware, and software).
  • Document audio systems management policies, procedures, and best practices. Serves as point of contact for any equipment and production facilities-related issues within the Dan Rather Communications Building.
  • Coordinate and maintain the scheduling of departmental media production facilities.
  • Coordinate and maintain a master inventory of production equipment.
  • Work with the CAM production team to support production activities across the college as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

May work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the production schedule. May require the handling of heavy objects, and working in tight spaces.

Excellent communication skills, mediation skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups and individuals. Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships.
