Position Title:Coordinator-Alumni RelationsDepartment:Alumni RelationsTerm of Assignment:ContinuingTerm End Date, If Applicable: FLSA Status: Non-Exempt = overtime eligibleWork Schedule:Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work requiredSalary:Targeted salary range: $39,360-$42,300Travel:Less than 10%Brief Statement of DutiesBrief Statement of Duties:Responsible for acting as a liaison between Alumni Relations and the NMU campus community, primarily for the purposes of coordinating and executing campus-wide strategies that align the engagement of alumni with university strategic priorities. Responsible for developing and implementing nationwide regional hubs to cultivate and broaden alumni interest and engagement. Support the University's strategic plan and fundraising goals in collaboration with colleagues within the NMU Foundation.Minimum QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's DegreeDiscipline / Degree Area: Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Required Minimum Work Experience:Two years’ experience in alumni or public relations, volunteer management, event planning, marketing, project coordination or related field.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines, set and achieve goals. Ability to be equally effective working alone and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal, presentation).
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of constituencies such as students, alumni, and donors. A positive attitude, with a customer service focus, is critical.
Ability to think both creatively and logistically.
Computer application skills (database, spreadsheets, word processing, web technologies, virtual conferencing).
Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially when handling alumni and donor records/information.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule with evening and weekend hours as needed.Additional Desirable QualificationsAdditional Desirable Qualifications:Event planning experience.
Experience with university policies, procedures, staff, faculty, academics and programming.
Experience with alumni and/or donor constituencies.

3) To identify, plan, and support activities that will encourage, promote, and recognize diversity on campus.
4) To evaluate the effectiveness of the Committee’s efforts and make adjustments to continually improve, including if necessary, recommending changes to the Committee’s charge.
5) To direct the President’s attention to issues regarding diversity on campus and in the surrounding communities.
6) To submit a report that enumerates and evaluates the Committee’s activities and makes recommendations, including recommendations regarding resource allocation, to the President by June 1 each year.
