Plans, designs, develops, executes and manages program to ensure successful implementation and continuation of academic program. Ensures the program follows the guidelines, specifications, policy and procedures. Provides direct oversight and vision for the programs technological or educational needs and goals. Provides information to and facilitates communication between administrators, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders concerning programs/services. Maintains relevant databases to ensure accurate and accessible records. Prepares reports summarizing statistical data or describing program objectives and accomplishments. Performs needs-assessment, planning, data collection and analysis in order to make continual improvement to on-going programs. May develop, design, evaluate and/or coordinate curriculum and requirements for the program. May secure funds through annual budget, grant writing or other means.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

A primary function of this position is to increase the number of teacher education graduates by strengthening school district, career tech, community college, and community agency collaborations. This coordinator will provide specialized support systems for teacher candidate recruitment, retention, and success.

Specific job functions include:

  • expanding joint educator recruitment and retention efforts with external partners
  • recruiting high school and career tech students, district paraprofessionals, and community members who are invested in partner school districts and who demonstrate an interest in teaching
  • assisting students with transitioning from high school, career tech, community college, or another university
  • devising incentives/assistance to encourage teacher candidate progression from entry point through college graduation and teacher certification
  • implementing programs/activities to improve teacher candidate retention and success
  • connecting teacher candidates to university and community resources
  • assisting with College of Education and Professional Studies recruitment and student success initiatives
  • serving as UCO’s liaison for teacher pipeline programs
  • participating in collaborative planning and progress reviews with teacher pipeline program partners
  • overseeing the Educator Preparation Program's recruitment and retention plan
Qualifications Qualifications Required:
Requires a bachelor's degree in field plus 5+ years of experience as a leader in planning, innovating, developing and implementing programs; managing budgets; and implementing and revising assessment systems. Appropriate professional accomplishments and credentials.

Qualifications Preferred:
3+ years of experience in teaching in P-12 schools; Master's or Doctoral degree in education or closely related field; Experience in post-secondary teaching, community outreach and external funding. Able to converse in Spanish.
