Job Description The University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a 12-month full-time faculty member in the Department of Dental Public Health & Behavioral Sciences to begin October 2021. The position is a 100% benefit eligible, full time, ranked, non-tenure track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor. Individuals with experience as a Dentist or Dental Hygienist are encouraged to apply. Specific responsibilities include coordinating externships for dental students in MO and KS Community Health Centers (CHC’s), attending state and regional meetings where the CHC Dental Directors gather, calibrating courtesy faculty who supervise dental students at CHCs, soliciting student performance evaluations from externship sites, sharing student performance evaluations with students and appropriate School of Dentistry clinical faculty, preparing students for externships, conducting post externship de-brief sessions, maintaining records of student externship activities, grading post externship student written reflections, drafting year-end reports summarizing student feedback and treatment rendered, and sharing year-end reports with the School of Dentistry Administration, faculty and the CHCs. Additional responsibilities include teaching didactic courses, supervising community oral health programs, collaborating with faculty and students on public health related research projects, presenting research outcomes and local, regional, and national meetings, and collecting externship data that can be used for scholarly purposes. Ideal candidates will be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at the same time, resilient and able to respond to unforeseen changes in scheduling, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and maintain rapport with the CHCs. Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified candidates must be a dentist or dental hygienist, licensed or qualified to be licensed in Missouri, and have training and/or experience in dental public health.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching, research, and service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Master of Science in Dental Public Health or Certificate in Dental Public Health is preferred.
