Job Details

Minimum Requirements

1. Completion of EDU-119 and can provide documentation of N.C. Early Childhood credential.

2. Experience working in an early childhood setting.

3. Knowledge of/or willingness to learn CACFP requirements, guidelines and documentation.

4. Knowledge of/or willingness to learn North Carolina licensing regulations, NC Sanitation Guidelines.

Additional Requirements:

1. The ability to lift and carry 35-to 50 lbs.

2. The ability to move freely around the classroom and outside environment.

3. Provide evidence of TB Skin Test, Criminal Background Check, and annual physical.

4. Willingness to obtain First Aid & Safety; Infant and Child CPR.

5. Must have good computer skills.

6. Ability to work flexible hours.

7. Willingness to participate in professional development activities.

8. Attend parent and staff meetings as well as college meetings/events.


Preferred Requirements

1. Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or closely related field.

2. One year of experience working in food service.

3. Previous experience following CACFP guidelines.

Primary Functions of Position

Under the direction of the Child Development Center Facilitator, the Child Development Center Cook prepares food in accordance with the Child Care and Adult Food Program (CACFP) regulations, NC Licensing Regulations and NC Sanitation Requirements. The cook is responsible for maintaining local, federal, and state guidelines within the kitchen work area and other areas in the building. The Child Development Center Cook has knowledge of and the ability to:

1. Complete inventory weekly and submit to administration on a bi-weekly basis.

2. Complete daily meal counts and CACFP paperwork.

3. Handle Food in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards.

4. Assure that the kitchen and food storage areas are clean and organized daily.

5. Provide 15-minute breaks for CDC staff.

6. Interact positively and effectively with children, parents, staff, students, and the public.

7. Exhibit personal qualities of patience, cheerfulness optimism, flexibility, cooperation, and reliability.

8. Respond to emergencies calmly.

9. Works well without close supervision.

10. Commitment to the community college "open door" philosophy and the comprehensive community college concept.

11. Works with CDC Facilitator, teachers, and children to complete other center tasks as needed.

The successful candidate must begin work by January 3, 2022. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and labor market. Excellent references from previous employers must be furnished upon request.

A completed Southeastern Community College application, a resume, letter of interest addressing the requirements and educational transcripts (unofficial copies of transcripts will be sufficient for the screening process, but official copies must be submitted prior to employment) must be submitted to the college Human Resources Office in order for applicants to be considered for this position.
