The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Endocrinology has an opening for a full-time Professional Research Assistant position. 

Nature of Work: 

  • This position is for the assistant study coordinator for the "TEAL and MANGO" studies with Dr. Cree-Green and DSD-TRN study with Dr. Natalie Nokoff. These are longitudinal clinical trials in adolescents with polycystic ovary syndrome or obesity and a registry for those born with a difference of sex development (also known as intersex traits). The position will encompass all aspects of the studies and be done in coordination with a senior PRA, ranging from recruitment, consent, scheduling of study procedures, performance of study procedures including metabolic cart, processing of blood samples, data entry, utilization of WatchPat, ACTi pal and specialize blood pressure assessments.

Position Emphasis:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Research recruitment – 20%
  • Research visits – 20%
  • Biospecimen handling – 20%
  • Data – 20%
  • Paperwork – 10%
  • Regulatory – 10%
    • Recruit participants from the community and relevant clinics at Children's Hospital Colorado
    • Consent participants for research
    • Communication with participant regarding adherence to treatments and/or study procedures
    • Scheduling of study procedures in multiple sites and with multiple systems
    • Performance of metabolic cart measurements
    • Processing and shipping of blood samples
    • Placement of Watchpat device and analysis of results
    • Placement of Actipal device and analysis of results
    • Performance of dynapulse blood pressure measures
    • Preparation of participant diet
    • Data entry and database management
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits: 

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $38,000 to $45,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science or health-related field
  • 1-year previous work in pediatric research
  • Completed laboratory science courses
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with EPIC EMR
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Experience working with underserved populations
  • Experience with REDCAP or other database management
Competencies:

  • Understand how to obtain assent for a child and consent from an adult
  • Know how to pipette and safely handle blood products
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new tasks quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with teams
  • Very strong organization skills
  • Detail oriented
