ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF POSITION

Develops and implements RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) activities within an assigned region including managing and placing volunteers age 55 and older and promoting the value of volunteer service through special projects and events The Director provides leadership and administration of associated grants and works with community partners, businesses, and faith-based organizations to engage volunteers in meaningful roles that make a difference in the quality of life for members of the community. In addition, this position functions as a liaison between Triton College and the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Administers RSVP program, including writing yearly continuation grants.

2. Develops, implements and evaluates program goals, objectives and operational procedures for programs.

3. Serves as primary liaison with Health Services in the delivery of wellness programming for adult learners.

4. Manages budget and program evaluation, as well as, writing required procedural reports for funding agencies.

5. Functions as liaison with community on numerous levels, including community leaders, business sector representatives, older adult population, community organizations and social services providers.

6. Develops and implements comprehensive program awareness campaigns and public relations plan.

7. Supervises, trains, and evaluates RSVP staff.

8. Manages RSVP volunteers, including recruitment, orientation, placement, training, follow-up, evaluation, and recognition.

9. Coordinates annual recognition ceremony or events for volunteers and community organizations.

10. Organizes and maintains RSVP Advisory Council.

11. Raises matching funds for program.

12. Develops volunteer positions within non-profit organizations in the Triton district and maintains communication with administrative staff of these agencies.

13. Articulates RSVP program to all Triton staff members.

14. Sponsors the Active Retired Citizens Club, including management of ARCC operations and direction and serves as college representative to ARCC board.

15. Performs a variety of other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

PROVIDED

Supervises a Coordinator, RSVP Volunteers, Program Assistant(s), Work-study students, and volunteers reporting to the program.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant experience with volunteer management or with the over 55 population.

EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated experience successfully applying for and managing grants. Data management to include reporting, and project management.

KNOWLEDGE: Proficiency in budget management and reporting. Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to the philosophy of the Community College.

SKILLS: Demonstrated skills in marketing, program reporting, and public relations specifically related to the non-profit sector. Demonstrated skills in the area of volunteer management. Drivers' license and reliable vehicle, or equivalent ability to travel within a 2-county region.
