Position Summary

The intersection of alumni engagement and career development has been at the forefront of the University of Denvers strategy for several years. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Networks, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Career and Professional Development will deepen and expand our career development paradigm which draws together students, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni in order to ensure our students leave the DU campus prepared to be successful, agile and adept professionals. With the benefit of the new Burwell Center for Career Achievement, this leader will continue with the strong momentum and support from the entire campus community. This leader will oversee and advance efforts in student and alumni career development, employer connections, faculty partnerships and student employment all with a strong eye toward diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Assistant Vice Chancellor will collaborate extensively with other leaders in DU Advancement and across the University to create and execute a forward-thinking strategic direction for career and professional development. The University of Denver is committed to fostering the holistic development of our students as outlined in the universitys Strategic Plan, DU IMPACT 2025, and Chancellor Haefners 4-Dimensional Student strategic imperative. This position will serve a critical role in co-creating and implementing the Professional Dimension of the 4 Dimensional Student Experience. The Assistant Vice Chancellor will also represent DUs career model externally at national conferences and to faculty and alumni to enhance DUs national brand in career programming.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education or work experience (Veterans with equivalent combination of military certification/education and experience may substitute for the degree qualification).
  • 7 years of experience in career counseling, talent management, change management, employee training/coaching, or human resources.
  • 5 years of experience managing personnel, with a demonstrated commitment to coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree.
  • Experience as the lead staff member over career and professional development services in a complex and dynamic higher education setting.
  • Experience engaging faculty, staff, alumni, families, and employers in career programming.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Some nights and weekends as required

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 16.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $145,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
