Job Title: Assistant or Associate Professor in Exceptional Needs Education

Summary of Position: The Indiana Wesleyan University School of Teacher Education (Marion campus) invites applications for a full-time faculty in Exceptional Needs Education. Must be prepared to promote skills of equity among undergraduate students, and support thriving, safety, and equity for all undergraduate students. All candidates must be dedicated to liberal learning and the integration of faith and learning within a Wesleyan Christian perspective. Position anticipated for Fall 2023.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include teaching courses as assigned in introduction to disabilities, special education teaching methods, special education philosophy, assessment, collaboration in special education, and special methods for students with severe disabilities, creating and revising syllabi as needed. Faculty will also assist in assessing program outcomes and preparing accreditation reports; serve as academic advisor for assigned students in the Exceptional Needs Education major; supervise field experiences in practicum and student teaching; and assist in developing program assessments. Additional responsibilities include mentoring students and meeting with outside class time as needed.

Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement.

Education

  • Master’s degree or equivalent required; doctoral degree preferred
  • Certification and/or experience with students with severe disabilities is preferred

Experience

  • Significant P-12 classroom teaching experience required
