Job Description:


  • Assists in the development of Level I and Level II fieldwork environments that are consistent with the goals of the MSOT program (may involve travel)

  • Assists in the procurement, updating and coordination of contracts for student internships

  • Collect and analyze data for reporting purposes

  • Mentor and advise students on preparation for, and participation in fieldwork placements. .Engage and interact with students in positive ways, such as by guiding student research projects, by serving as the advisor to student clubs and organizations, or by mentoring students in other scholarly activities

  • Educate/mentor fieldwork educators on the development and implementation of on-site, clinical fieldwork education.

  • Teach course content related to fieldwork education & other courses as assigned by program director.

  • Organize and maintain documentation related to fieldwork education including fieldwork educator evaluations of students, student evaluation sites and compiling preliminary student data.

  • Participate, in accordance with departmental and College need, in the ongoing design and continuous implementation of assessment of student learning outcomes and academic program improvement activities in the areas of General Education and the academic major; attend AIC assessment workshops.

  • Hold and schedule a minimum of four office hours weekly to meet needs of students, and be available to meet with students as needed at other times.

  • Attend scheduled general faculty, school faculty, and developmental faculty meetings; attend College Town Meetings and Faculty Assembly meetings. Attend required convocation, commencement, academic awards ceremonies, and workshop and be available to participate in activities that promote the College in a positive manner both on and off campus.

  • Participate in professional development activities related to one's faculty role, including maintaining up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practice in area of clinical expertise and specialized clinical credentials.

  • Engage in service to the department, School and College through committee membership.

  • Other duties as assigned by Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, Chair/Director or Dean.



Requirements:


  • Required Degree(s): Master degree in Occupational Therapy

  • Preferred Degree(s): Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy (OTD, PhD) or related field

  • Required Field of Expertise: 3 years of clinical practice in occupational therapy

  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Previous experience as a Fieldwork Educator


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Enthusiastic, committed teacher-scholar with demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship with proven history of professional communication skills and high level of multi-modal communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to high quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds.

  • Interest in active and collaborative learning and enthusiasm for working in an interprofessional setting.

  • Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students, faculty, staff and clinical sites within a diverse environment.

  • Experience using data management systems as well as Microsoft Office Suite, Blackboard and the use of instructional technology to teach traditional, hybrid or online courses as needed and serve as a resource for faculty using these tools

Work Schedule


This is a full time, 10-month (end of August through end of June), exempt level, benefit eligible position with hours flexible to the needs of the department.
