Research Assistant Professor in Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Feb 11, 2021
Deadline: Feb 11, 2023 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of directing and managing a sequencing core facility. The successful applicant will be a visionary leader with significant experience in contemporary high-throughput sequencing technologies and instruments, and in managing research personnel and technical staff.

The long-term goal of this core facility will be to provide a wide range of genomics services for CHOP and Penn research faculty. Staffing of the core, and instrumentation needed to keep pace with anticipated demand and emerging technologies, will be provided by the CHOP Research Institute. Once this state-of-the-art facility is established, the director will be expected to develop a sustainable strategic plan, and work with faculty to prioritize future instrumentation and services. The director is expected to interact and interface with various genomics-focused research centers and programs, and contribute to the overall ecosystem of genomics and data sciences research at CHOP and Penn. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include performing wet bench research, training faculty, students and staff, writing manuscripts, and giving scholarly presentations. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of outstanding laboratory research with solid publications and current funding support. The investigator will be expected to establish a track record in obtaining research funding and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia are EOEs. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
