General Purpose

 

The Housing Coordinator resides in on-campus housing and is responsible for supervising resident students living in student housing, management and supervision of the student suites buildings, and the Community Advisor staff in coordination with the Dean of Student Life.

 

The Housing Coordinator assists Student Affairs in establishing and facilitating a culture that is consistent with the College’s mission and key values.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 

  • Schedule room assignments for resident students and guests staying on campus throughout the year.
  • Recommend Community Advisors to the Dean of Student Life.
  • Oversee and training of the Community Advisor staff.
  • Assist in formulating, administering, interpreting, reviewing and recommending revisions to housing policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of an annual budget of revenue and expenditures for Housing.
  • Supervising residents:
  • Establish, update, and enforce Housing policies and regulations.
  • Report major incidents and discipline concerns.
  • Refer student concerns/problems to the Dean of Student Life, as appropriate.
  • Assist with fall and spring student orientations.
  • Responsible for coordinating move in and move out events at the beginning and end of each academic year.
  • Serve as a hearing officer for Student Rights & Responsibilities.
  • Supervising suite buildings:
  • Coordinate with Facilities the upkeep of buildings and provide recommendations for improvements to provide a healthy and safe living environment for residents.
  • Coordinate regular suite checks with Campus Safety.
  • Campus Safety
    1. The Housing Coordinator serves as the daytime (8:00am – 5:00pm) Campus Safety officer.
      1. Answers and directs calls from the Campus Safety cell phone as appropriate
      2. Performs safety rounds around campus as needed
      3. Issues parking tickets and inputs ticket charges into CAMS
    2. Rotates with Campus Safety staff during on-call rotation for holidays as coordinated by the Dean of Student Life

     

    Education and Training

    Education:           

    Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred degree or experiences in residence life, college and university administration, counseling, college student personal or a related field.    

     

    Prerequisites for the job:              

    One year of full time related field experience; or equivalent combination of experience and education.

     

    Personal Characteristics:               

    Self-motivated, organizational skills, good communication skills, detail-orientated, and interacts well with others.

     

    Time Management:        

    60% Housing duties; 25% Campus Safety duties; 15% other duties as assigned

    Core Competencies

     

    Must be able to

    • Follow oral and written instructions.
    • Work independently as well as within a group environment.
    • Periodically work late hours.
    • Possess a valid driver’s license.
    • Proficient with computers and computer software.
    • Speak to and instruct large groups.
