Assistant Vice President for Student Wellness and Health Equity The Division of Student Affairs at Coastal Carolina University seeks an innovative and experience leader for the inaugural role of Assistant Vice President for Student Wellness and Health Equity. This senior-level administrator will report to the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, serve on the Student Affairs Leadership team, and will be responsible for inspiring, leading, and supervising key functional areas that support student wellness including Counseling Services, LiveWell, and Student Health Services. As Coastal Carolina University takes bold steps to holistically support students’ wellbeing in innovative ways amid COVID-19 and beyond, the incumbent will collate and aggregate data from across their portfolio to identify ways Coastal Carolina University can be a national leader in student wellness and health equity and create a strategic plan to achieve their goals. The assistant vice president must be a diversity, equity, and inclusion-minded leader, and demonstrative proficiency in providing inclusive and holistic healthcare. This position will manage the newly implemented web-based array of contracted telehealth and counseling services for students, and oversee the student health and wellness fee. The assistant vice president will also take part in the Student Affairs on-call rotation for after-hour student emergencies. Requirements: A master’s degree in Public Health, Counseling, Health Administration, Educational Leadership, or relevant health or education-related discipline from an accredited institution is required. If a clinician, must be currently licensed and, if not already, be eligible to be licensed in South Carolina within a year of hire. Five (5) years of progressive leadership in Public Health, College Health and/or Student Affairs, and prior experience in a supervisor and/or leadership role in Counseling, Wellness, and/or a Health Center are required. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency and commitment to social justice, equity and access. A terminal degree in Public Health, Counseling, Health Administration, Educational Leadership, or relevant health or education-related discipline from an accredited institution and five (5) years in a supervisory or leadership role in Counseling, Wellness, and/or Health Center in a university setting are preferred.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

A terminal degree in Public Health, Counseling, Health Administration, Educational Leadership, or relevant health or education-related discipline from an accredited institution. 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role in Counseling, Wellness, and/or Health Center in a university setting.

Required Licensure and/or Certification:

Applicable licensure in the State of South Carolina is required (or must be obtained within one year of hire) for candidates who currently practice and wish to continue practicing while in the role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding of health, wellbeing and developmental issues facing college students; demonstrated knowledge of educational administration and university governance; impeccable attention to detail; exceptional oral and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills and ability to build relationships. Thorough knowledge of community resources in health and wellness, with an ability to serve as a resource consultant for other health and wellness personnel. Demonstrated leadership and managerial experience: visioning, data-driven planning and strategy, co-curricular program development, student learning outcomes, and assessment; Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse community. Experienced supervisor with a philosophy of mentorship, personal accountability and communication; skilled in performance management and creating/facilitating staff development and training. Ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus community; handle highly confidential information; ability to work frequent evening and weekend hours and assist crisis management in the college/university environment. Knowledge and skills relating to the management of financial resources. Ability to understand, communicate and implement regulations, codes, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Demonstrated ability to source necessary and relevant information, in order to conduct accurate and factual research; significant skill set in research, assessment, and strategic planning. Versed in current health inequities and innovative approaches to increase access to health and wellness resources for college students. Knowledge of meeting the needs of historically underrepresented, low-income, first generation, traditionally disenfranchised, and differently abled populations in diverse environments.
