Department Marketing Statement
The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine is charged with conducting high-impact original biomedical research and translating the findings to clinical applications, and in educating future physicians and researchers.  Our research addresses fundamental questions in neuroscience, cell and developmental biology, endocrinology, and regenerative medicine.  Collaborations have been established with clinical departments for studies that investigate various diseases including neurological diseases (stroke, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, muscular dystrophy, and Guillain-Barre syndrome); psychiatric disorders (depression, schizophrenia and autism); degenerative diseases (osteoporosis); and endocrinological disorders.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities
The Senior Research Scientist trains and provides direct supervision to the new postdocs, students and technical staff in Xin-Yun Lu's lab; to include oversight of progress reports and grant submissions, managing approval protocols of IACUC and Biosafety, maintaining mouse breeding colonies and assisting with verifying data and performing statistical analysis for publications of other fellows. The person in this role also continues to expand your work in animal behavior, transgenic mouse models and in vivo calcium imaging of the brain as it relates to new directions for Alzheimer's research.
