Position Summary

University College is currently seeking adjunct faculty with extensive industry experience in technology and innovation with emphasis on Transportation and Supply Chain, who can facilitate the learning experience of adult learners in a career-focused program.

Comprehensive experience in the transportation, logistics, supply chain industries, application and use of various technology tools including but not limited to:

  • Transportation Management Systems (TMS),
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS),
  • Primary Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems popularly in use with companies actively using such systems for Sales, Inventory, Operations, and Planning purposes (SIOP)
  • Optimization software
  • Modeling methodologies and systems
  • And similarly utilized technologies in the transportation and supply chain space by both shippers and carriers.

Essential Functions

Adjunct faculty at University College are subject matter experts in their field and integrate professionally relevant, diverse examples into their teaching and discussions. They adhere to University College Faculty Teaching Expectations and meet the following expectations:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive experience with the application of various technologies related to transportation and logistics and supply chain
  • The ability to teach the fundamentals of data modeling as applicable to this industry
  • Speak through the various strategies related to technology selection by application
  • Comprehensive experience in the process to develop a scope definition, procure, and implement various technologies applicable to this industry.
  • Knowledge of the history and evolution of technology
  • Build and Select a case study used to support the "lab" section of this course
  • The lab has a focus on
  • Data Modeling
  • Application of specific tools related to optimization
  • Etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience with higher education in general and adult learners.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Information analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups.
  • Strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to adapt priorities and focus.
  • Commitment to showcasing a diverse range of perspectives, experts, authors, and resources.
  • Required Qualifications

    • Masters degree in Transportation, Supply Chain, Marketing, or Business Administration , or 10+ years of extensive technology experience in the transportation and supply chain community.
    • Successful teaching/facilitation experience with adults or completion of an education/training program on adult learning.
    • Work or academic experience congruent with the content of a course or courses offered within our M.S. in Transportation program.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Recognition of professional accomplishment in an area of expertise related to course or courses offered within our transportation management program.
    • Publication in the transportation and/or supply chain field.
    • Professional presentations pertaining to technology in the transportation and/or supply chain field.
    • Licensing and/or certification by professional organizations.
    • Completion of an education or training program on adult learning or internship/mentorship that addresses adult learning principles and practices.

    Course Rate
    This 4-credit course is paid $6000 for the quarter.
