The Teacher Education Discipline at St. Norbert College seeks student-teacher field supervisors for the period August 20, 2021 – January 14, 2022, and several sophomore block field supervisors for teacher candidates in the last five weeks of the Sophomore Block Program, November 1 – December 17, 2021. Sophomore Block consists of a five-week, full-time placement in an area K-12 school. 

Student Teaching Field Supervisor

The student-teacher supervisor serves as a liaison between the teacher candidate, mentor teacher, and the College. The supervisor ensures the teacher candidate is given the opportunity to demonstrate skills as a reflective practitioner. Supervisors observe and evaluate candidates at least four times during the student-teaching semester. In addition, supervisors facilitate at least two conferences with the student, mentor, and supervisor. Supervisors submit written documentation of observations and conferences to the college’s Teacher Education discipline. They support candidates in completing the Teacher Work Sample, the program’s performance-based assessment. In addition, they help score this assessment.

This position begins August 20, 2021, and ends January 14, 2022.

Major responsibilities of the St. Norbert College clinical supervisor include:

• facilitate the trilateral relationship between mentor, candidate and SNC supervisor; collaborate with mentors to jointly support and assess candidates’ practice;
• help the group of student teachers become a professional learning community;
• observe candidates, provide written feedback, and confer with them and their mentors about their planning and teaching;
• assist candidates in developing and implementing personal & professional learning goals;
• review and provide feedback on candidates’ weekly lesson plans;
• provide summative feedback at end of candidates’ student teaching experience, including communication skills, dispositions, human relations and SNC teaching standards;
• support candidates in completing the SNC Teacher Work Sample assessment; assist in scoring 3-5 TWSs
• co-plan and facilitate a weekly seminar held Friday mornings 8-10 a.m. where candidates examine emerging questions of practice and pedagogical innovations;
• communicate with mentors and Director of Clinical Experience about candidates’ progress;
• work closely with Director of Clinical Experiences to identify and address individual candidate concerns and contextual factors that impact the triad and candidate progress;
• complete clinical supervision training provided by St. Norbert College.

Qualifications:

1. minimum three years of PK-12 teaching experience 

2. valid WI teacher license

Sophomore Block Field Supervisor

Sophomore Block consists of a set of courses taken concurrently during the first 10 weeks of the semester followed by a five-week, full-time placement in an area school. The Sophomore Block supervisor serves as a liaison between the site school, mentor teacher, and the College. Supervisors facilitate an initial conversation with mentor and candidate. In addition, supervisors observe and evaluate candidates at least twice during the 5-week field experience. Supervisors submit a final evaluation to the college’s Teacher Education discipline. 

This position begins November 1, 2021 and ends December 17.

Major responsibilities of the Sophomore Block clinical supervisor include:

• collaborate with mentor teachers to jointly support and assess candidates’ practice;
• help Sophomore Block candidates become a professional learning community;
• observe individual candidates in their classrooms and provide written feedback;
• confer informally with candidates and their mentors about their planning and teaching;
• assist candidates in developing and implementing learning goals;
• provide summative feedback at end of candidates’ experience, including communication skills, dispositions, human relations and SNC teaching standards;
• co-plan and co-facilitate a weekly seminar held on Wednesdays 8-10 a.m. (November 10-December 15) where candidates examine emerging questions of practice and pedagogical innovations;
• communicate with mentors and Director of Clinical Experience about candidate’s progress;
• work closely with Director of Clinical Experiences to identify and address individual candidate concerns and contextual factors that impact candidate progress;
• complete clinical supervision training provided by St. Norbert College.

Qualifications:

1. minimum three years of PK-12 teaching experience 

2. valid WI state teacher license
