Purpose of the Position:

This position will ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing various housekeeping tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:

Required:

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Basic computer skills

Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning supplies

Skilled in the use of housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner

Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., tolerate frequent bending, stooping, and climbing stairs

Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain positive relations with faculty, staff and students

Ability to work a flexible shift and weekend hours as needed

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education Required: Valid driver’s license

Experience Required:

Experience in cleaning methods and cleaning supplies

Experience using a vacuum cleaner

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :

Education Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Preferred: Demonstrated experience as a housekeeping worker in a college/university or hotel setting.

Starting at $22,000

Conditions of Employment:

This is a classified position. New and returning classified employees are required to complete a 12-month probationary period;

Selected candidate must have the ability to work a flexible shift and weekend hours as needed;

Selected candidate must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., tolerate frequent bending, stooping, and climbing stairs; This position includes Commonwealth of Virginia and CNU employee benefits; Selected candidate must attend 2-day New Employee Orientation Program.
