Departmental Objective:The Housing department ensures that student-housing facilities are well maintained, clean and safe for the students of CNU.
Purpose of the Position:This position will ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing various housekeeping tasks. It will also oversee the work of assigned housekeeping workers.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:Required:
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to direct work assignments
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning supplies
Skilled in the use of housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffers, and scrubbing machine
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., tolerate frequent bending, stooping, and climbing stairs
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain positive relations with faculty, staff and students
Ability to work a flexible schedule and be on-call on a rotational basis
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license.
Experience Required: Experience overseeing the work of others. Experience in cleaning methods and cleaning supplies. Experience using a vacuum cleaner, buffer, and scrubbing machine.
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :Experience Preferred: Prior hotel, higher education or similar housekeeping experience.

Conditions of Employment:This is a classified position. New and returning classified employees are required to complete a 12-month probationary period; This position includes Commonwealth of Virginia and CNU employee benefits; Selected candidate must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., tolerate frequent bending, stooping, and climbing stairs; Selected candidate must have the ability to work a flexible schedule and be on-call on a rotational basis; Selected candidate must attend 2-day New Employee Orientation Program.
