    Job Description General Summary: In accordance with the mission of the Department of Athletics, administer the progress and success of the intercollegiate men’s basketball program within the guidelines of the NCAA Division II, the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and the University of Missouri – St. Louis. This will include all pre-season, in-season and post-season activities necessary to the development of a regionally and nationally-competitive team.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities of the Assistant Coach:

    • Serve as the Recruiting Coordinator – to recruit highly qualified student-athletes consistent with the standards of a competitive NCAA Division II men’s basketball program and the academic standards of the university. • Serve as the Academic Coordinator and monitor the scholastic progress of student-athletes in conjunction with the Athletic Academic Advising Office and Academic Coordinator for Athletics so as to promote their academic success • Coordinate all video/ game scouts and film breakdown.

    General Duties and Responsibilities: Knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA rules, policies and procedures pertaining to men’s basketball. • Attend and participate in monthly NCAA rules compliance meetings. • Coordinate travel arrangements, equipment purchases, and expense reports. • Establish and maintain quality relationships with alumni and support organizations • Participate in department fund raising, promotional and public relations events including media interviews, speaking engagements and campus and community outreach and service projects • Coordinate summer camps in conjunction with University guidelines. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and experience as a successful basketball collegiate coach. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, a minimum of three years of experience as a successful basketball coach at the college level, demonstrated success in recruitment of scholarship athletes, knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations, strong leadership and communication skills and a commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment. Employment will require a criminal background check.
