The Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Compliance advances evidence-based decision making and builds a culture of continuous improvement across the university through developing and maintaining relationships across campus constituencies and external stakeholders. The Director provides leadership for institutional and program-level assessment for improvement including in the areas of institutional-level use of data, general education, academic programs and administrative units. The Director also oversees the processes and ensures integrity of federal and state institutional data collection, retrieval and reporting related to SACSCOC accreditation, and internal and external data reports. The Director is expected to lead the Institutional Effectiveness and Compliance team to promote use of best practices and innovative data use throughout the university. This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. 

  • Leads Institutional Effectiveness initiatives on Campus; Designs/selects assessment tools (in collaboration with end data users) for collection of meaningful data; Provides direction and leadership on best practices for collection and use of institutional survey data for all university constituents (e.g., students, employees, alumni, community partners); Assists university constituents with development of assessments needed for all units and general education including providing guidance on survey design and delivery and rubric development and scoring; Works with faculty to plan and deliver general education and academic program learning outcomes assessment processes. 
  • Provides analysis, interpretation, and reporting of institutional data that is useful to end users in their decision making; Collaborates with Institutional Research to ensure reports provide all information needed for decision making including subgroup, comparative, longitudinal, and trend analyses; Designs and updates Institutional Effectiveness webpage with data and reports that promote the use of institutional data across the university; Develops reports that provide direction and interpretation for continuous improvement. 
  • Collects and reports data to external agencies (SACSCOC, SCCHE, etc.) in a timely manner; Contributes Institutional Effectiveness data to SACSCOC committee and collaboratively develops accreditation reports; Ensures that data needed for institutional initiatives are accurate, collected regularly, housed systematically, and evaluated periodically for usefulness. 
  • Educates the campus about the importance of assessment for continuous improvement; Works with units to develop useful assessment process that meet unit needs and provides leadership in building a culture of assessment across the university. 
  • Direct/lead the activities of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Compliance to ensure that campus IE data needs are understood and fulfilled including maintaining the survey calendar, communicating with external partners and vendors, overseeing the course evaluation process, monitoring the budget and prioritizing workflow.
