Performs a variety of functions assigned by the head coach including coaching, attending team competitions, budget management, and purchasing equipment, supplies and uniforms. Assists in player development, academic support, monitoring, and regional recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Responsible for program public relations, fundraising and adhering to all rules and regulations of Kennesaw State University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN). Responsibilities
1. Assists coaches and staff and supports the implementation of plans and programs which will achieve academic progress, retention and timely graduation of student-athletes
2. Provides leadership and support for department-wide initiatives
3. Schedules games and practices for assigned athletics program
4. Prepares training plan for runners
5. Creates recruiting plan to attract distance runners and other track and field athletes
6. Organizes, supervises, coordinates and employs sound coaching techniques and practices
7. Participates in university and Athletics department events as required
8. Prepares student-athletes physically, mentally, and emotionally to compete for Conference Championships and post-season competitions
9. Assists with fundraising for Track and Field program
10. Serves as spokesperson for the intercollegiate program and a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of CampusRequired Qualifications Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experienceOther Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver's licenseRequired Experience
One (1) year relevant experience coaching in a post-secondary level program, professional athlete, professional tour participant or professional coach in a related sports program Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications
USTFCCCA (US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Certification Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Thorough knowledge of NCAA, conference, State of Georgia and university policies, rules and regulations
Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with student-athletes, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and the public
Able to deal with multiple tasks or projects at one time
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, technology, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
