Job Summary
This Academic Success Coach position is a 10-Month Staff position (August - May) serving the Armstrong (Savannah) and Liberty (Hinesville) Campuses. The Academic Success Coach will provide individualized outreach to TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) participants who are identified as at risk connecting them to relevant campus resources and supporting them on an ongoing basis. The Academic Success Coach will monitor and track the progress of TRIO SSS participants and develop working relationships with relevant campus resources. Additionally, the Success Coach will engage in data collection, data entry, and student development.

This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Respond constructively to a wide range of student concerns, not all of which may be academic
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with students
  • Track students throughout semester to ensure continued use of support services and review student progress
  • Maintain student AIPs and progress notes in EAB Campus platform
  • Collaborate with professors and the Academic Success Center's Success Coach team
  • Participate in ongoing training and development with Academic Success Center's Success Coach team
  • Maintain current calendar for walk-in hours and student appointments
  • Stay current on events and trends related to academic intervention strategies and coaching relationships with students
  • Serve on University and departmental committees as assigned
  • Represent Academic Success Center TRIO Student Support Services at events as needed (including student orientation)
  • Coach and guide students in completing self-assessments
  • Work with students to create Academic Success Plan (AIP)
  • Establish and maintain communication with participants identified as at risk or failing a course(s) for academic intervention
  • Present group orientation sessions to students who are new to TRIO or academic intervention
  • Acclimate students to University policy on academic standing and intervention
  • Guide students through self-assessment to design and follow through on an Academic Improvement Plan (AIP)
  • Provide individual and/or small group coaching sessions to assist students in making progress on their AIPs
  • Link students to academic support services and other campus resources as appropriate

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in education, psychology, or related field

Required Experience
  • One (1) or more years of experience working in one-on-one settings in educational support, coaching, mentoring, or related environment

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Masters degree in higher education or related field

Preferred Experience
  • Prior Experience working in TRIO Student Support Services or similar projects for low-income, first generation, STEM, veterans, ESL or disabled students needing academic support in higher education
  • Experience working with Banner, Blumen, EAB and other widely used information/data collecting systems

Proposed Salary
$27,536 - $30,968
